Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries. As a Colorado native I am a big fan of my Denver sports teams. Especially the Broncos and Nuggets. Outside of the barbershop you can find me exploring everything Colorado has to offer from snowboarding, snowshoeing, golfing, hiking, fishing, scenic drives and train rides accompanied by my husband and Shiba Inu named Duggie. I moved to Breckenridge in 2010 to enjoy a winter season of snowboarding and have been here ever since. I worked in the restaurant industry for the first few years before going back to acquire my cosmetology license at Paul Mitchell the School Colorado Springs. Prior to my transition to Gentlemens Barbershop I did hair professionally in Breckenridge for three years. I'm skilled in all types of haircuts we offer, and I particularly enjoy the camaraderie and craft here. Outside of the barbershop, I enjoy spending time with my husky, family, and friends. I have a passion for learning and enjoy artsy activities like ceramics and terrarium making. I moved to Summit County in 1999 to pursue a career in culinary arts and become a chef. After my apprenticeship with Vail Resorts and the Colorado Mountain College Culinary Institute, I graduated with a bachelors degree in Applied Science. Upon graduation, I stayed in Keystone where I worked my way through the ranks at the resort and became a chef leading teams of cooks. With over 30 years of working in hospitality, I look to take my passion for serving others to the barbershop. As I pursue my new career as a barber, I hope to take my skills as a chef and focus on the details of cutting hair and creating an amazing barbering experience. As a chef I lived by the motto of “If you look good, you feel good. I had my car packed and ready for the move during my last exam for a bachelors degree in psychology at University of Colorado at Boulder, and was at my new home in the mountains a couple of hours later. Before joining the Gentlemen’s Barbershop team, I enjoyed a ten year career as a line cook, which helped me develop the attention to detail, organizational skills, work ethic, and customer-minded responsibility that is crucial to being a successful barber. Over time, I’ve come to realize the importance of maintaining your personal appearance and how it positively impacts someone internally.
